Caravan Insurance Policy Features
Protecting your caravan from unforeseen circumstances allows you to continue your travels stress-free. With appropriate insurance, you can safeguard your caravan, belongings, and yourself. A wide range of insurance options can be tailored to fit your specific requirements. Below is some information on each of the main comparable cover features:
✅ Standard Covers
Fire, Lightning, Earth, Explosion, Storm, Flood, theft and attempted theft of your caravan or contents and Accidental Damage (Saver product excludes accidental damage).
✅ Malicious Damage
Protection if someone intentionally damages your property or your caravan is vandalised by someone else.
✅ Public Liability
£2 million and £5 million third party liability cover is available in case you accidentally cause damage to someone else's property or injure someone while using your tourer.
✅ New For Old Cover
Replace your lost or damaged caravan with a brand new one instead of a used one (Market value cover). New for old cover is available for up to 10 years of age.
✅ Market Value Cover
If your caravan is lost, stolen or damaged beyond repair, market value cover means you receive the current market value of your caravan to replace it with the same or similar make and model.
✅ European Cover
If you plan on taking your caravan to Europe, this policy feature provides cover for accidents, damages and repatriation for up to 270 days per policy year.
✅ Loss of Use
If your caravan is unusable during your holiday, cover is available for either hotel accommodation (excluding food and drink) or replacement caravan hire costs up to £75 per day for a maximum of 14 days.
✅ Cover at Home Before/After Holiday
Up to a 24-hour window both before and after your holiday, protecting your caravan while it's at your home during these times. "Home" refers to your property—not communal parking, roads, or highways.
Do I need caravan insurance?
While caravan insurance is not a legal requirement, it can save you from expensive fixes or replacements. It covers costs from accidents, theft, and weather damage like storms or floods. It also covers public liability if someone gets hurt or their belongings get damaged while you're at a caravan site.
Your car insurance policy doesn't cover caravans. If there's a road accident and your caravan gets damaged, you'll have to pay for its fix or replacement. If the other driver caused the accident, their insurance might cover the damage, but it's not a sure thing.
Caravan insurance takes care of these issues and more, whether your caravan is attached or detached from your car.

Caravan Insurance Costs
The cost of caravan insurance in the UK varies depending on multiple factors. These factors include: the make, value, storage location, type of cover (new for old, market value), and the age and experience of the policyholder. The average cost to insure a touring caravan is £172 per year, however it can range from £80 to £410+ or more per year.
Keep in mind that the cheapest caravan insurance quotes may not necessarily be the best quotes in terms of the level of cover provided. It’s a good idea to consider the excess, reviews, and the range of policy features as well as the price when comparing quotes.
