Topsail Insurance is really pleased to announce that their chosen company charity for 2018 is to be the specialist respite provider, Sail 4 Cancer, who fund day trips and short breaks for British families affected by cancer.
Each year Topsail Insurance UK likes to dedicate thier fundraising efforts to a marine based charity. In 2017 the Jubilee Sailing Trust was chosen with help from Topsail Facebook followers and customers and in 2018 a unanimous first choice from all of the team was Sail 4 Cancer.
Topsail has pledged to offer a charitable donation of £1 for every policy sold throughout the year plus sales of the fabulous and popular Topsail kite will all go to Sail 4 Cancer. Fundraising from the annual charity Golf Day will also be in aid of the company charity.
Lizette van Niekerk, Fundraising Manager for Sail 4 Cancer commented: “We are delighted and honoured to have been selected as the charity of the year by Topsail Insurance. Our roots are firmly in sailing and we have been so privileged to have the support of the sailing industry from the start.
"It has helped us to give families affected by cancer the breaks they so desperately need to get away from the stress for a while. They tell us that sailing helps them leave their worries on shore to just enjoy being out on the water in the fresh air with their families. The funds raised through this partnership with Topsail Insurance will be used to provide more sailing days for families and sailing weekends for youngsters recovering from cancer. Thank you so much!”
Topsail Insurance Director, Chris McGowan commented on the new partnership: "Topsail is proud to have chosen Sail 4 Cancer as their 2018 charity. They do such great work providing sailing and other water-based opportunities for cancer patients and their families and those who have suffered recent bereavement in the hope that their quality of life may be improved.
"In addition, they organise high profile sailing events to raise significant funds for cancer treatment, care and research. Keep an eye out for Topsail’s fundraising events this year."
Sail 4 Cancer was set up in 2001 by a group of keen sailors who had all lost a close friend or relative to cancer. The charity is primarily a provider of water based respite days and holidays for families affected by cancer. The charity also makes grants to cancer care centres and supports research into the positive effects of exercise (e.g. sailing) and how it can help prevent cancer and aid recovery post diagnosis.
