On Friday the 16th of September, Topsail Insurance hosted a charity golf day at East Brighton Golf to raise funds for RNLI Brighton Lifeboat Station. Proud sponsors of the 18th hole, Topsail Insurance hailed the event as a huge success.
Despite a rainy start, the 14 players from various sectors of the marine industry met at 12.30pm as the sun was making a tentative appearance, to enjoy a hot hog roast prior to the day’s activities.
Golfers made a charitable donation to play and were also given opportunities to improve their game by buying ‘mulligans’ and one or two metres of string to be used on the green to move their ball nearer the flag.
Along with an entertaining round of golf for all players, a variety of competitions and prizes were awarded throughout the day, including best dressed golfer, correctly guessed number of lost balls and longest drive.
After 18 holes of golf Navigators and General’s, Martin Lovell took the prize for overall individual winner, taking home a bottle of champagne.
Other prize winners include;
Best-dressed Golfer: Peter Young’s traditional plus-four outfit won him the prize of a two-ball voucher, kindly donated from East Brighton Golf Club
Winning Team: Team one to tee-off, made up of Peter Young, Ian Crumpen, Damian Vaile and Martin Lovell took the winning team title along with some Topsail beer each.
Number of Lost Balls Competition: Towergate’s Chris Moon correctly guessed the 39 lost balls during the event and picked himself up a pack of 12 golf balls kindly donated by Ian Crumpen of Nautical.
Longest Drive Competition: Chris Moon won a keg of beer for the longest drive on hole six.
Nearest the Pin Competition: Chris Moon was on to a winning streak on the day and also got to take home a bottle of champagne for nearest to the pin which was judged on the 10th hole.
A total of £520 was raised for RNLI Brighton Lifeboat Station and Topsail Insurance has matched this amount, bringing the total donation amount to £1,040 for the RNLI.
A thoroughly enjoyable day was had by all and we look forward to our next event in 2017.
