The difficult situation we have all found ourselves in due to the pandemic has been a massive eye-opener for a lot of people and has promoted a sense of community spirit with people coming together to help and support each other through this difficult time.
Topsail employee Reina Hawkes wanted to give something back to help support the amazing key workers on the front lines so she has been volunteering her time at an assisted living facility run by a friend.
She commented "It is tough at the moment with lots of restrictions and regulations, wearing PPE and having frequent temperature checks but it is extremely fulfilling to see the difference it makes to the residents.
I have seen first hand the love and dedication that goes into providing a great home for those who cannot live alone or with their families and I am proud to volunteer alongside the carers and be able to offer my support to the residents - even just making a cup of tea, painting nails and taking them into the garden for a chat and a breath of fresh air can make all the difference to somebody’s day."
We should all take this opportunity to appreciate the NHS, other medical institutions, care workers and other essential staff for everything they do. Stay home, save lives, protect the NHS.
