Topsail launches new Airbnb host boat cover

Topsail Insurance, the established Brighton-based marine insurance company, is pleased to announce that from October 2017 a brand-new insurance policy will be added to their broad offering to UK and European boat owners.

The new Airbnb Host Boat Insurance policy will provide cover for all boat owners who would like to use their motor boat, sailing yacht or inland craft for Airbnb accommodation guests. Topsail recognised that there was a gap between what Airbnb offer in their Host Guarantee and a boat owners personal boat insurance, identifying that most recreational boat insurance excludes claims when renting the vessel to a paying guest.

Topsail MD, Rob Stevens commented on the new venture: “Several hundred boats are available in the UK to book to stay on through the online marketplace and boat owners have long been using their boats for Airbnb guests but are either not aware or ignore that they may not be fully covered to do so.

“The concept behind the new insurance policy came after we were approached by a number of Topsail customers enquiring about cover for their boats for paying guests. What makes this policy unique is that we recognise the important factors that owners require, specifically that they will be covered for damage caused by rogue guests also, liability to guests for their injury, damage to the vessel and liability to third parties.

“This tailored made insurance policy is a very affordable addition to the boat owners insurance that provides all the right cover and peace of mind to safely protect the boat and guests.”

Airbnb, the worldwide accommodation leader, enables people to lease or rent short-term lodgings in over 65,000 cities in 191 countries, with 4,000,000 listings online catering for over 200,000,000 guests.
