 Love at Sea

As the saying goes ‘there’s plenty more fish in the sea,’ and if you’re a sailing enthusiast, this statement couldn’t be more accurate. Life out at sea can often get lonely, and it’s hard to start any kind of relationSHIP when you’re travelling here, there and everywhere. You may be thinking to yourself ‘if only I could find the perfect mate to sail off into the sunset with’. If you’ve ever found yourself in this position but don’t know where to find yourself the perfect catch, then fear not - nautical themed dating sites could be your saviour!

Over recent years, there have been increases in the amount of interest-specific dating sites with the aim to match like-minded people together for a happy ever after (hopefully). Sailors are often very passionate about their hobby and it matters to them to find a companion who shares their love. On paper this seems to make perfect sense, but does it really work in reality?

Back in 2012, CNN reported on Ian McLaren-Morris, a 52 year old, lonely sailor with nothing but a 12 meter yacht called “Silver Slipper” and a life-long dream to sail the world. Ian signed up to the aptly named lovesail.com in search for his real-life Cinderella, and the site did not disappoint! He found himself both a soul and crew mate as they later tide the knot and sailed around the world for their honeymoon.

Ian’s story is only one of many which ends in happiness. Even if you’re not looking for love, these sites also cater to those who are seeking friendship and even new crew members – lots of opportunities for everyone with sailing in their heart. So go on, ‘seas the day’ and find your perfect match to explore all the oceans have to offer you, together.
